dreaming through the noise

i am missing someone but i don't know who
dreaming through the noise
all the nights that joy has slept
dreaming through the noise
will awake to days of laughter where the light is
dreaming through the noise
I can't shake my sins
dreaming through the noise
when you walk me down your broken line
dreaming through the noise
I would give you my wings if they would help
dreaming through the noise
And night will throw down it's cover on me again
dreaming through the noise
I dozed a little while longer and woke a little younger
dreaming through the noise
a thousand sparrows flew down to your door
dreaming through the noise
I've never seen a sight so fine
dreaming through the noise
where I've stood on a cold clear night
dreaming through the noise

gathering two

salt from the water
the night continues fallen but in one piece
I drink in the quiet
butterflies flying away like a dream

gathering one

the wind was full of darkness and rain the houses fell
he leads up this hill of yearning
As I smolder bending closer to stitch, grief moves the dust
he pores over other people
there is a heart starting to stop the might in your eyes

I caught the way

I caught the way to keep forever
salt like glass scrubbed to a thick lens
she wore small silver spectacles
the bright yellow of the leaves like light, dim but light just the same

I caught the way to keep forever
you soft and lonely
running his hands between two layers of fabric
saying quietly to himself; I will not always be tethered to a crowd

I caught the way to keep forever
knowing it was a bitterly cold, winter day
a small paper theater with changeable backdrops
how much dreaming will it take?

I caught the way to keep forever
a fever of levers and wedged thoughts
thunder in my veins
being totally alone

I caught the way to keep forever
the doors are wide open
alabaster arms and legs but soft
the trees were dreaming
