Benefit me Lovely

benefit me lovely
briar patches and rose thorns
bringing about a slam of language
punctuated with familiarity
wilder than one would imagine

benefit me lovely
stories that can be gifts
black angels swim shadowing each other
treading water and taking in too much salt
buying almonds grapes and honey for
the light that always opens in the kitchen window
small gold fishes made from stiff jelly

benefit me lovely
waterfalls and thin yellow cloaks
bring some life to the room
even turtles turn their tiny heads for a peek

benefit me lovely
I pour over and over until i leave no spot untouched
let me in, I want to be seen
I release the breath I didn't know I was holding.
